We all want a perfect smile, but it doesn\u2019t come naturally\nto most of us. We need the help of our dentist or orthodontist to look after\nour smile and make the necessary changes in order to create that smile for us.\nFor some it\u2019s just a good cleaning\/whitening session, others need dental\nimplants to improve their grin. But if your dental flaw is crooked teeth, you\nhave braces to think about \u2013 but which version is best for you? While your\nspecific case may dictate which version will work best, let\u2019s take a minute\nbreak all of the options down:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional.<\/strong> Stainless steel braces are the most\ninexpensive types of braces. The main drawback to metal braces is that they\u2019re\nvery visible. They\u2019re also known to cause irritation in the gums and cheeks\nwhile you adjust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ceramic.<\/strong> Ceramic braces<\/a> are made to blend in with your teeth, but at a much higher cost. They\u2019re built to withstand stain, but the ties can easily stain, if you drink coffee or tea. Unfortunately, ceramic braces are much more sensitive and are prone to breaking or chipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lingual.<\/strong> Even more inconspicuous than ceramic,\nlingual braces are tucked behind the teeth. The main problem with lingual\nbraces is that they\u2019re not ideal for most cases. These braces can also get in\nthe way of the tongue, causing speech problems and\/or injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invisible.<\/strong> Invisible braces<\/a> are not like your conventional braces wherein you have brackets mounted to your teeth. Instead, you\u2019re wear custom-fitted aligners or rubber trays for 20 hours a day, removing them only when you\u2019re eating or brushing your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
